Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Standard Chartered Leasing comprises of a team of professionals who command considerable respect in the local and international financial circles. All directors of Standard Chartered Leasing are nominees of Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited.

Mohsin Ali Nathani - Chairman: Mohsin is a seasoned corporate banker with over 20 years of banking experience, covering Asia (East and South-East), Middle East and Levant regions. Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, he was the Country Head and Managing Director of Barclays Bank Pakistan. Mohsin’s experience spreads across corporate banking, fixed income markets and Islamic Banking.

From March 1997 through October 2000 Mohsin was the head of Asian syndicated loans business for ABN AMRO bank based in Singapore. From March 2000 till May 2005 he was the co-head of Asian Debt markets for Citigroup Hong Kong. Mohsin was also appointed as Senior Credit Officer (SCO) & Senior Securities Officer (SSO) during this period. In June 2005, Mohsin joined Citigroup Dubai as Regional head of corporate banking for Middle East, where he was responsible for building the corporate business and a strong and diversified team.

Mohsin moved to Pakistan in January 2008 and took charge as country head & MD of Barclay’s Bank Pakistan, where he was responsible for the establishment and commencement of banking operations of Barclays in Pakistan.

He is also a director of Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan Limited, Standard Chartered Modaraba and Price Solution Pakistan (Private) Limited.

Mohsin is an MBA from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.

Mohsin is married and has three children, one daughter and two sons. He enjoys playing bridge and is actively involved in social, educational and charitable activities. Mohsin is on the boards of Pakistan Council for Philanthropy, British Oversees School, I-CARE and a trustee in IBA endowment fund.

Arjumand Ahmed Minai – Chief Executive Officer: Arjumand Minai has joined Standard Chartered Leasing Limited (SCLL) as Chief Executive Officer in April 2010.

Arjumand is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, UK and has over 30 years of varied experience with leading multi national & national organizations in manufacturing, marketing and financial services sectors. He has worked for blue chip companies like Exxon and Wellcome Pakistan in the areas of Finance, Audit, Information Technology, Human Resource, Strategic Planning and Corporate Affairs. He has served organizations in Pakistan and in the UK.

Prior to his current assignment with SCLL, Arjumand has served the Standard Chartered Group in Pakistan as Managing Director of Standard Chartered Services of Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited, the management company of Standard Chartered Modaraba, and as Head of Islamic Banking & Strategic Projects of SCBPL. Arjumand was Chief Financial Officer of Union Bank from August 2003 to September 2006, when Union Bank was acquired by the Standard Chartered Group. Prior to joining SCLL, for a brief period, he was the Group Head of Finance and H.R at Silk Bank.

Najam I. Chaudhri - Independent Non-Executive Director & Chairman Of Audit Committee: Najam I Chaudhri has 39 years of professional experience in the Accounting profession. His career commenced with A. F. Ferguson & Co. (A member firm of PriceWaterHouseCoopers), a leading Chartered Accountancy firm from where he retired as Senior Partner in June 2007.

Najam has worked in various senior positions and is a very well respected professional. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and also of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

He has been an active member of various organizations in Pakistan such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants where he has held different offices from Council member to Vice President and later President. He has also served on the committee of the Corporate Governance in Pakistan; Technical Advisor – Education Committee of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Member of the Sub-Group on Tax Reforms and Public Finance of the Economic Advisory Board (under the Chairmanship of Dr. Hafeez Pasha) and as a Committee Member on Reform Process Leading to Functional Separation between Audit & Accounts (under the Chairmanship of Mr. M.U. Beg).

Najam has also been a Member of the State Bank of Pakistan's Restructuring Committee to examine proposals for divesting non-core functions such as Retail Cash Management and Prize Bonds Scheme and Government of Pakistan’s Pay & Pension Committee. He has also been the Director for Karachi Stock Exchange and member of the Ad-Hoc Public Accounts Committee of Sindh.

Najam is presently an active member of Sindh Privatisation Commission, Government of Sindh; Sindh Pension Fund Board, Government of Sindh; Provincial Finance Commission, Government of Sindh and is the Vice Chairman of the Karachi Council for Foreign Relations.

Najam Siddiqi – Director: Mr. Najam Siddiqi (currently Financial Controller) has been recommended as replacement for the outgoing CFO. Prior to joining SCBPL in 2008, he was working as CFO at Samba Bank. Najam has over 12 years of rich experience at senior level finance and risk management positions in Samba Bank, KASB Bank, Oman International Bank and A. F. Ferguson & Co. (member firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers) and has been instrumental in managing crisis and implementing turn around strategies. He is a Certified Public Accountant (USA), a Fellow Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, Certified Internal Auditor (USA), has a degree in Laws and diploma in Islamic Banking and Insurance (UK).

Syed Naseer ul Hasan – Director: Syed Naseer ul Hasan is the Head of Consumer Banking of Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited. Syed Naseer ul Hassan has been with Standard Chartered Group since April 2010 and brings strong discipline in strategy, operations and people management. He has held senior position in NIB Bank as their Group Head of Retail & Mass Market Business.
Syed Naseer ul Hassan has also worked with Standard Chartered Dubai, Citibank (Pakistan, Brussels & London) and IBM Pakistan.

He posses over 17 years of multi dimensional experience and has worked in diverse roles in Technology, Sales, Audit, Credit, Risk, Consumer Retail Business and Branch Distribution network across the globe.

Khurram Shahzad Khan – Director: Khurram Shahzad Khan is the Chief Risk Officer of Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited. He has been with the Standard Chartered Group since 1996. He has held senior positions in Risk Function in some of the key markets like Thailand and Bangladesh. Prior to returning to Pakistan in 2008, his last assignment was Senior Credit Officer (SCO) Thailand. His experience also includes time at Credit Agricole Indosuez and NESPAK Engineering. In his role as Head of GSAM of SCBPL, Khurram initially inherited a portfolio worth USD 58 million, and was responsible for managing outstanding recoverables related to the corporate clients.

Khurram holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, and an MBA from the University of Rochester in the US.

Shahid Zaki – Independent Non-Executive Director: Shahid Zaki graduated from the University of Southern California, USA in 1976 with a Master’s degree in Engineering. He complemented his Engineering degree with a Masters in Business Administration Degree with Majors in Marketing. This combination of a technical and a business degree has given him a techno-commercial edge which is critically required for leaders who head businesses which deal in technology.

Mr. Zaki has over 30 years experience with Phillips Pakistan. During his association with Phillips, he was responsible for the overall financial, production/manufacturing related, logistic management of different product divisions in Philips Pakistan including Corporate, Consumer Electronics, Lighting & Domestic Appliances. He has proven track record of building business through crafting a strong performance culture, organization capability development & providing strong leadership to the team. He also possesses excellent background in entire marketing cycle; value exploration, value creation and value delivery whereby he has helped to create, maintain and renew customer value. In addition he has over 30 years of teaching experience of marketing, business strategy and organizational leadership.

He continues to pursuing teaching at universities and institution in the quest to remain academically vibrant and remain in touch with ongoing research and development in various disciplines of management and technology. After leaving Philips in 2008, he joined IBA Karachi as Executive Director of the EMBA Program for almost 2years before joining The Aman Foundation in the same capacity.
